Wearing the PITON is like having two extra pieces to plug in on each and every pitch. The toe is chiseled to fit second knuckle-to-hand cracks and the entire forefoot is slathered in super sticky Stealth Rubber to jam securely in any size slot. Flush mounted nylon web lacing loops make for easy in-and-out progression and won't hang you up or slow you down while cruising through the crux. They also are more comfortable and won't dig into the top of your foot - which is protected further with a breathable padded tongue. Upper is unlined split leather (with patterned stitching to limit stretch) with sticky rubber rands up front and special high heel rand with die-cut stress relieving windows - which improve fit and are useful for frictioning features. Heel is also cushioned underneath with 5/16" closed cell EVA for shock absorption and long stints at the belay.
