The GRIGRI+ helps you belay the leader or second with a mechanical assist for more confidence and rappel smoothly. Operation is simple: open like a pulley, insert the rope then close and and attach to your harness belay loop with a locking carabiner. The reduction handle offers exceptional descent control. Two usage modes to choose from, depending on need: top-rope belay or lead belay. The top-rope belay mode and the anti-panic handle make for a more comfortable belay, making the GRIGRI + particularly suitable for learning.
Use both hands to pay out / take in rope - which feeds smoothly. You can even pull out rope for an advancing leader while maintaining grip on the Grigri and the "braking side" of the rope. Should the climber fall, rope tension will rotate the internal cam and apply the necessary friction for a quick stop - a great assist to belayer. To "lower" a climber or rappel - grip the free end of rope (as you would with any device), then slowly pull back the release handle to initiate the descent. Smooth!
