Updated for 2015 - the new ASCENSION retains all the performance that made it popular plus features a couple of tweaks that streamline and improve function even more. These ascenders are lightweight, easy to use and equally at home on big walls, alpine climbs, expeditions and are well suited for professional use.
New and notable include plastic insert covers that protect cam from being fouled with ice or debris; a redesigned cam with self-cleaning slot and "trigger" window; a safety catch that's concealed within body to help prevent snagging; and lastly - a enlarged lower clip-in hole to accept two 'biners.
As before the upper body of ASCENSION is contoured to fit in the palm of your hand providing both a variation in grip and possible two-handed pull-up power. Central opening is large enough to accommodate your big wall gloves or ice mitts and fitted with a comfortable soft plastic grip that provides good control and handle is tilted for less wrist strain.
Tool Tip: For angled pitches, roofs and traverses clip an OK SCREWGATE around the rope and then thru the upper biner holes for additional security. This same carabiner can connect the ASCENSION to a FIXED SIDE PULLEY to make a lightweight, efficient haul system.
