Hexes are light, economical and bombproof. These are the nuts (also called chocks) that we learned to climb with, and were the standard in Yosemite and every major crag prior to the advent of FRIENDS. HEXENTRICS were the first modern camming nuts that could be placed in a variety of ways, offering a range of placement opportunities for each nut. Slot endwise in tapering flared or reversed flared cracks, cam in either narrow or wide mode - which is particularly good in horizontal cracks. On long or alpine routes combining HEXES with other, heavier active camming devices will increase your rack's versatility and also save you weight.
